Just because the reworked Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez built part of its circuit through a baseball stadium doesn’t mean you should throw baseballs onto the track. Those things hurt at normal baseball speeds—I don’t even want to think about a baseball nut shot tossed by a Le Mans prototype where no one nearby is wearing a cup.
Today’s World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Mexico was briefly slowed down for a full course yellow so that a marshal could retrieve a baseball.
The baseball was right at Turn 4 on the track, and definitely wouldn’t have been fun if one of the race cars took it through the radiator.
I’m with intrepid Twitter screencapper Mattzel89—this is definitely the most interesting baseball action I’ve seen in years. I do not have the attention span for baseball, but I definitely do for this.
