When Android Pay made its initial debut, it was unclear whether Verizon would actually support it. Not only is it doing that now, but it is actually encouraging customers to use it by offering up to 2GB of extra data for free.
Verizon has been known to block payments systems that rival its own Softcard service in the past (think Google Wallet), but Big Red seems committed to pushing Android Pay. Customers who use it between now and June 13 will receive up to 2GB of data for free.
Verizon will give 1GB of data after your first Android Pay purchase, then another 1GB after your third purchase. There is no minimum spend, so it doesn’t matter how small those purchases are — you just need to make three of them to bag the full 2GB.
The offer is available to postpaid customers on a standard Verizon plan, and those on the More Everything Plan. Once you’ve claimed the 2GB of free data, you will have it applied to your account for two billing cycles.
That’s not a lot of extra data these days, but if you use your smartphone a lot while you’re out and about, it will be a welcome boost, and it doesn’t require a great deal of effort to claim — especially if you have Android Pay set up already.
