A show you might have heard of, Game of Thrones, is returning for its sixth season this weekend. That’s good news for fantasy fans and HBO subscribers! Bad news if you don’t get the premium channel. But don’t fret, HBO will be free this weekend, just in time to catch the show’s much-anticipated return.
The free trial will run from Friday to Monday, giving potential subscribers an entire weekend to enjoy the channel’s lineup of premium content. We all know its big ticket item is Game of Thrones, but there are several other shows worth checking out, too, including Girls, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and Silicon Valley.
Oh, and Beyoncé’s mysterious Lemonade event is this weekend as well, which means HBO is opening up this free-for-all at the perfect time. Of course, the plan is for people to get hooked and ultimately paying for a subscription. By the way, this applies to cable-only, so the cost will come on top of what you pay your provider already.
If you don’t have cable at all, you can still check out HBO Now, which offers a free 30-day trial for the subscription service (otherwise the price is $14.99/month).
