Synths, robots nearly indistinguishable from humans, played a big role in Fallout 4‘s primary plotline, with the Lone Survivor often having to choose between humans and synths. That line continues with Far Harbor, the biggest of the three announced expansion sets, which now has a trailer, above, and a release date.
The questline is initiated via Nick Valentine, the synth detective, and it “leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths.” The expansion takes place on an island off the coast of Maine in an area of increased radiation. The cult known as the Children of the Atom plays a big role in the story, as well.
Bethesda says that this is the biggest expansion they’ve made yet in terms of landmass, and from the trailer it looks like there are some new monsters. The look of the expansion has somewhat of a vibe similar to the Point Lookout expansion for Fallout 3, though it seems less Deliverance and more H.P. Lovecraft, if just a bit. The end of the trailer has Nick Valentine geared up for what seems to be an experiment.
The expansion is set to come out this month, on May 19, on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
