TOKYO (Reuters) – Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said on Friday the central bank will act decisively using its “ample” policy options if needed to achieve its 2 percent inflation target.

“We will take monetary policy measures in a timely, forward-looking manner,” Kuroda said in a speech at a seminar, adding that the BOJ would not necessarily stand pat until the effects of past easing measures on the economy are confirmed.

“Risks to the economy are tilted to the downside,” he said, pointing to uncertainty over the global economy, volatile financial markets and their effect on business sentiment.
