T-Mobile announced on Tuesday that it’s adding a bunch of new streaming options to its Binge On program. Binge On lets you stream video without it cutting into your data, and, today, T-Mobile said it’s adding support for Google Play Music, Tidal, NBC, Radio Disney, Univision, NOGGIN and more. That’s a lot of streaming music services, many of which are already supported by Music Freedom – the same idea as Binge On but for music – so what gives?
Well, this makes sense given that Spotify, Tidal, Qello Concerts and Google Play Music, among others, are starting to add streaming music videos and concerts. Users can now stream music knowing that the audio won’t count against their data cap while also knowing that any music videos or other video content they stream won’t ding their data either.
Keep in mind that you’ll want to turn Binge On off if you want the highest possible quality video experience, since T-Mobile cuts the quality down to 480p to help save on those data costs.
