When Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit theaters last December, many people were disappointed to find Luke Skywalker, who we hadn’t seen on screen in decades, was saved for the very last shot of the movie. However, when Star Wars: Episode VIII rolls around, that’s going to change in a big way.
There are potential spoilers ahead.
According to a report from Making Star Wars, the reclusive Skywalker will be involved in an epic fight with Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren, proving that he really is the strongest Jedi in a galaxy far, far away.
Apparently while hiding on Ahch-To, Luke Skywalker and Rey are confronted by Ren and the Knights of Ren, with an ensuing showdown to rival the best Star Wars fights we’ve seen.
The report claims Luke will single-handedly decimate the Knights of Ren while Ren seeks revenge against Rey, who humiliated him in The Force Awakens. Here are a few key descriptions from Making Star Wars’ report:
- Luke Skywalker engages the Knights on the beach while Kylo attempts to kill Rey.
- The first black knight has an axe and moves towards Luke but is Force pushed away to his death after being thrown through the air.
- After Luke dispatches the first Knight he ignites his green lightsaber.
- Luke moves through each Knight one-by-one.
That last bit sounds epic. Fans have been waiting a long, long time to see Luke kick some butt and it sounds like that’s exactly what we’re going to get. Making Star Wars’ report comes from a source who claims to have seen filming in progress, so take this with a grain of salt. Star Wars: Episode VIII is scheduled for a Dec. 15, 2017 release.
