There’s going to be a Fruit Ninja movie because why not

There was Angry Birds, Tetris, and emoji, and now word has it there’s going to be a movie based on popular mobile game Fruit Ninja. Hollywood has officially gone too far. At least make a movie about something interesting, like Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector. Just kidding. No, but seriously, why couldn’t someone do a movie based on Monument Valley or Fallout Shelter?

No real details are known at this time, just that something is in the works and we’re all doomed. Apparently the film is going to be a “live-action family comedy” based on the game, which tasks players with slicing digital fruit. Not sure how this one is going to make the transition over to the big screen, but it’s happening whether we like it or not.

With over 1 billion downloads since its release in 2010, it certainly has its audience. I’m just not sure that same audience is all that eager to sit in a theater and watch fruit get sliced to bits.
