SpaceX on Thursday will perform its usual song and dance, and attempt to land its Falcon 9 rocket on the floating barge, otherwise known as “Of Course I Still Love You,” in the Atlantic Ocean.
“As with other missions going to geostationary orbits, the first-stage will be subject to extreme velocities and re-entry heating, making a successful landing challenging,” SpaceX said in its mission overview.
The payload for this launch will be the THAICOM 8 satellite, SpaceX said, which was built by Orbital ATK; the satellite will provide Ku-band communications coverage for South Asia and Southeast Asia.
The two-hour launch window will open at 5:40 p.m. ET. You can watch the whole thing unfold in the video below.
Update: The launch window has officially been delayed until 7:40 p.m. ET.
Update #2: SpaceX has cancelled today’s launch and will try again tomorrow.
