With Assassin’s Creed taking the year off, it was sort of assumed Watch Dogs 2 would headline Ubisoft’s presentation at E3 this year. Following a couple different leaks, the French publisher has announced their E3 lineup, including their super hacker blockbuster.
In an email sent to press, Ubisoft wrote that it will “present highly anticipated titles such as Watch Dogs 2, For Honor, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands.
The company has mentioned the game in at least one earnings call, but it’s never actually announced it the way game companies usually do. Last month, an actor for the game leaked the title via his Instagram account.
We knew it was coming, because Ubisoft likes to stick with reliable franchises, but now we can start speculating, right? Ubisoft’s learned a lot about making promises too soon since the first game’s announcement, so we can likely expect the game to release this fall (assuming it isn’t delayed by any hostile takeovers that might occur), and we can expect to see it looking something like it’ll actually look like when it releases. Probably.
Ubisoft’s press conference is set for Monday, June 13, at 1 p.m. PST, so we’ll know just what the sequel has in store then.
