VR isn’t just for video games, a point we’ve been trying to drive home for a while now, and StubHub’s latest launch is another great example of really useful applications for virtual reality. First available in the U.S. in April, the company recently announced that Canadian ticket buyers can now take advantage of a new feature that lets them preview their seat location.
“StubHub’s virtual view uses virtual reality technology to allow fans to get a 360-degree view from their section while purchasing tickets to the hottest events of the summer, loaded with Canadian favourites on the baseball field and the stage,” the company said, noting that the feature is first rolling out in two locations in Canada, including Molson Canadian Amphitheatre and Rogers Centre where the Toronto Blue Jays play.
This means you’ll be able to make sure that you’re able to see the stage, or aren’t accidentally buying tickets behind a large concrete column, all by simply launching the StubHub iOS or Android app. If you don’t have a VR headset, you’ll be able to pan around the 360-degree video with just your fingers. If you do have one, you can simply look around as if you’re actually sitting in your seats. Pretty awesome, right?
