I don’t usually write about Call of Duty, but when I do, it involves major extremes. And, trust me, today’s announcement is of the most extreme.
The latest DLC pack, titled Descent, will not only involve a mechanical zombie apocalypse in an alternate history Soviet Union, but also a swarm of dragons that will rainfire from above. Players will “face-off against a swarm of mechanized zombie infantry and dodge hell-fire from aerial dragon assaults.”
Along with the offline mission, Descent will include four new maps.
- “Empire,” a Roman villa and re-imagining of the Black Ops 2 map “Raid”
- “Cryogen,” a cryogenic prison compound in the middle of the Dead Sea
- “Berserk,” a blizzard-prone viking village
- “Rumble,” a battle arena littered with fallen giant robots
And now that we finally have dragons in Game of Thrones, Call of Duty is there right away to capitalize. Don’t think for a second that the timing is coincidence.
Descent will come to PlayStation 4 on July 12, and it will be a timed-exclusive for an unspecified amount of time. It will come to the Xbox One and PC afterwards.
