Microsoft announced Xbox Play Anywhere during E3 this year. The program is essentially Microsoft’s take on Sony’s Cross-Buy feature, except with Xbox One and Windows 10 instead of the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.
Polygon has just confirmed the official start date of Xbox Play Anywhere with Microsoft. The program will begin on September 13, 2016, and the first game players will be able to buy once and enjoy on both their Xbox One and Windows 10 PC is ReCore.
There are a few caveats here. First, this only works with digital versions of the game. You won’t be able to buy the disc version of ReCore, play it on your Xbox One and see it available on your PC for free. Second, Xbox Play Anywhere requires the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to be installed on your PC in order to work.
Meet those two requirements, and you’re ready to roll.
Here’s the current list of games set to be a part of Xbox Play Anywhere.
- Ark: Survival Evolved
- Crackdown 3
- Cuphead
- Forza Horizon 3
- Gears of War 4
- Halo Wars 2
- Killer Instinct Season 3
- ReCore
- Scalebound
- Sea of Thieves
- State of Decay 2
- We Happy Few
