Final Fantasy XV will support HDR gaming on the Xbox One S, as confirmed by Xbox boss Phil Spencer.

Why this matters:
HDR is the latest movement in gaming that seeks to enhance image quality through the use of color. Blacks will be darker, whites will be brighter, and the contrasting colors will theoretically make the images much more beautiful to look at.
Final Fantasy XV, one of the biggest titles of the holiday season, was already confirmed to have HDR support on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. Microsoft’s announcement will make sure it doesn’t lose ground on Sony when it comes to what is looking like another race for superiority on the console front.
Only the Xbox One S supports HDR gaming with specific televisions designed to incorporate it. The original does not support it. Final Fantasy XV joins the likes of Microsoft’s Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 as well as Square Enix’s Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in games that will show off what it can do this year.
Final Fantasy XV launches for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 29.
