Is Titanfall 3 happening? Sure, it might seem a little early to ask that question, considering Titanfall 2 is barely three weeks old at this point, but with it having a tough time at retail, it’s hard not to be curious.
Speaking to Glixel, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella said of the possibility of a sequel that his team doesn’t know yet.
“[Titanfall 2] is, critically, a huge success. We’re really happy with all the reviews and the positive sentiment. Sales, it’s too early to tell. We’d definitely like to tell more of the story and universe. I think it’s pretty safe to assume we’ll explore more of it.”
Whatever that means about Titanfall 3
Zampella looked to his EA publicist Devin Bennett for the publisher’s take on it.
“What we’ve said is that we’re committed to the franchise,” Bennett said.
“So whatever the f*** that means,” Zampella added.
The interview goes over some of Zampella’s history with Infinity Ward, with whom his game is now a direct competitor both in genre and in timing, with Titanfall 2 hitting just a week before Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and a week after EA’s own Battlefield 1.
Right now, Respawn is at work on a Star Wars game, so they’re busy regardless, and it might be a few years before we see anything about another Titanfall sequel.
