Final Fantasy XV might be on the minds of Square Enix fans around the world, but there is another slick action RPG gaming brewing in the company that its quirkier fans are looking forward to even more! Platinum Games’ NieR: Automatawill be playable by the public in a worldwide demo available on Dec. 22.
In the demo, players take control of one of the twin protagonists, android 2B, and follows her as she cuts her way through robots and other mechanical beings in an abandoned factory.
Following up on a cult-classic like NieR is never easy
NieR is one of the premiere cult games from the previous console generation: divisive, awkward, definitely not a game intended for mainstream success. Fans love it to pieces, outsiders scratch their heads at the appeal, and everyone questions how this sequel even got the green-light.
But here it is, and it looks like a really solid game. I only hope it is able to deliver a pristine action experience without sacrificing the quirks that helped the original stand out.
Play the demo on Dec. 22, and if you like it, be sure to buy NieR: Automata when it launches for the PC and PlayStation 4 on March 7.
