Well, Mario’s off to a strong start on mobile.
We received an email from third-party app store marketing site Apptopia with the current download count. It’s absurdly high. Super Mario Run has been downloaded 2,850,000 since its release yesterday.
Now, how many of those downloads went on to purchase the game? We’re not sure on that front, and Nintendo hasn’t released any hard numbers just yet. Anecdotally, we did a story about how frustrated users are that there’s a $9.99 paywall with Super Mario Run, though that’s been known since its announcement. The existence of the wall, that is. The price was relatively new information, but it’s not unheard of.
Even if a fraction of that 2.85 million downloads resulted in a purchase, Nintendo’s probably happy with Super Mario Run so far.
Have you picked it up?
