AT&T launches buy-one get-one smartphone deal

AT&T on Friday announced a new buy-one get-one (BOGO) smartphone deal for the holidays. The carrier said it applies to even the most expensive models. The deal is good between now and December 24, so be sure to act before Santa comes to town.

Keep in mind that, like most BOGO deals, this doesn’t actually mean you get to pay for one smartphone and walk out of the store with two. Sure, it’ll even out to that, but you’ll need to buy both smartphones first. Then, over your monthly payments, AT&T will apply up to $650 per line in bill credits. Those credits won’t start for two billing periods, either. You’ll need to sign up with AT&T Next or AT&T Next Every Year and add a new line, too.

Check all carriers for big savings, though

If you’re adding a family member to your account and are picking up two new smartphones anyway, though, this is a pretty good bet. Most carriers start to offer these deals during the holidays, so check Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, U.S. Cellular and the regional providers, too.
