It Really Is A Holiday Because NASCAR’s Running Two Daytona Races On The Same Day

Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what’s going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

Because of a rain delay on Friday night, there’s a doubleheader at Daytona International Speedway planned for Saturday with both the Xfinity Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series—weather permitting, of course. But hey, what a day! What an American holiday weekend! Plus, two plate Daytona races within the same eight hours sounds like the right way to spend a Saturday.

It’s Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s last time at Daytona—don’t quote us on that, because he could easily become a lifetime substitute driver like Jeff Gordon—and NASCAR’s most popular driver is on the pole position for the Cup race. Expect a lot of wrecks (and maybe a lot of rain), because that’s how plate racing goes.

Up north will be IMSA’s sports-car classes, with the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship headlining the weekend at Watkins Glen International. The WeatherTech race will be on television, but you’ll have to catch all of the other classes that are racing this weekend online.

Also streaming will be the MotoGP World Championship from Germany and the FIA World Rallycross Championship from Sweden. MotoGP is, as usual, on the subscription service beIN, while you can catch some rallycross via a Facebook and a YouTube live stream as listed below. The stream listings here are for the U.S., and global television listings can be found here.

There will also be live coverage from the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship on Saturday, if you need more two-wheeled coverage.

The delayed showings this weekend include NHRA, Monster Jam, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, ARCA Racing Series, Stadium Super Trucks, Virgin Australia Supercar Championship, FIM Motocross, Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series and the Trans Am Championship.

If you know of any other events or streams going on this weekend, feel free to let us know in the comments below.

All times ET.
