Yuli Gurriel tipped his helmet to Yu Darvish ahead of his first at bat in Game 7 of the World Series in what appeared to be an acknowledgement of his wrongdoing.

Gurriel was caught by cameras making a racist “slant eyes” gesture in the Astros dugout after hitting a home run off of Darvish in Game 3 of the series. The next day, Gurriel received a five-game suspension from the league for the gesture, which will begin at the start of the 2018 season.

During Sunday’s Game 6 Gurriel was met with a chorus of boos in his first at bat back in Los Angeles since this incident, and Dodgers starting pitcher Rich Hill stepped off the mound to allow the boos a bit of extra time, a move that Hill would later call his “silent gesture.”

Gurriel has since expressed remorse for his actions, and the tip of the hat he gave to Darvish, seemed to be another form of apology he could offer for his initial gesture.
