Audi: If You Want RS Wagons In The U.S. You Should Write More Letters

I didn’t think this would ever happen, but we actually have a pretty decent selection of wagons in the U.S. these days. We’ve got wagons from Mercedes-Benz, Buick, Volvo and Jaguar, just to name a few. But samples from Audi’s RS division have been out of reach for us. There could be a light at the end of this dark tunnel, though, with an emphasis on could.

Those Audi RS wagons might be a possibility for us if we are to believe Filip Brabec, Vice President of Product Management for Audi of America. Speaking to Motor Trend, he said:

“We always look at potential new opportunities in the market. It’s a niche to explore. We keep holding discussions. Keep writing us letters.”

It’s like with any model that doesn’t currently come here. The automaker needs to feel like it will sell before it invests a bunch of money to bring it stateside. It’s a tough thing to gauge, because a lot of favorable noise doesn’t always translate to a sale. Yet, if we keep making noise, enough so that it becomes a deafening roar in Audi’s ear, then maybe we’ll get those fancy wagons and we won’t have jealously look at photos of them in Europe anymore.

But for those of us waiting, I’d like to point you to an Audi RS6 Avant you can buy in the U.S. right now, just without the Audi badge: A Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo. That’ll satisfy all your wagon needs.
