Seamless, a digital food ordering platform that also owns GrubHub and Eat24, added Pay With Venmo as an option to all three apps, enabling customers to pay with their Venmo balances and split bills upon ordering.
Customers will be notified of the Venmo option the next time they log into one of the apps. Venmo is counting on Pay With Venmo to monetize because it brings in per-transaction fees from merchants.
GrubHub, which processed $3.8 billion in gross sales in 2017 across its properties, could be a particularly good source of volume. And, since customers like to use peer-to-peer (P2P) payments in social situations, like splitting the cost of a meal, they might be attracted to the bill splitting functionality.
