Jessica Reisinger, 24, was struck and killed earlier today by a street racingFord Mustang while pushing her daughter in a stroller on Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa, Florida, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Reisinger died after being transported to the hospital, and her 21-month-old daughter remains in critical condition after a witness performed chest compressions shortly after the collision.

Tampa Police said Cameron Coyle Herrin, 18, was driving with his brother, Tristan Christopher Herrin, 20, in a 2018 Ford Mustang. Witnesses told police he was traveling fast, racing a gold Nissan driven by John Alexander Barrineu, 18. Police say at times the cars were side by side, and at other times, they switched places and lanes.

Police arrested Cameron Herrin, Tristan Herrin and Barrineu. Cameron Herrin and Barrineu were charged with street racing, vehicular homicide and reckless driving resulting in serious bodily injury. Tristan Herrin faces one charge of street racing. He was a passenger in the car.

According to the report, the collision occurred on a two-mile stretch of Bayshore Boulevard that is four lanes wide with a grass median separating the two sides of the road, which does not have any crosswalks. Previous attempts at having the road’s 40 mph speed limit lowered have failed.
Pedestrian safety projects, including upgraded signals, new signage and the addition of bicycle lanes were completed following the 2004 death of a jogger on the stretch of road, who was struck by a motorcycle traveling over 80 mph.

A resident of the neighborhood who frequently walks along the road indicated to the Tampa Bay Times that the speed limit is often ignored by motorists.
