That new documentary on Grace Jones put her back on my mind, and got me to download a bunch of her albums that I didn’t already have, including Muse, supposedly a kind of lost record for her.
It was her last disco record, in ‘79, right after everyone lost taste for disco. By 1980 she was onto the Caribbean/New Wave sound that makes up her big hits. Private Life, Pull Up To The Bumper, all that.
But listen to the opening track of Muse. It’s like the theme song to an antihero movie that was never made. It is so goddamn good. I have been singing Bad as I can beeeeee to myself since the weekend. Good shit.
