Huawei is set to unveil its P9 smartphone at an event on Wednesday, but the device’s specs have already been spilled in a recent benchmark. A post to GFXBench reveals much of the flagship phone’s hardware, including a brand new in-house processor.
It looks like the P9 will be powered by an upcoming Kirin 955 chip clocked at 2.5GHz. That’s a decent step up from the 2.3GHz Kirin 950 processor found in recent devices like the Huawei Mate 8. Other leaked specs include a 5.1-inch 1080p display, 2.7GB of RAM (likely rounded up to 3GB officially), and 25GB of storage (probably 32GB total).
The benchmark also mentions a single 11-megapixel rear camera. However, the P9 is widely expected to offer a pair of Leica cameras in back. It also appears to sport a 7-megapixel shooter up front.
Huawei will allegedly offer several different versions of the P9. There may be a cheaper P9lite, a super-sized P9max and a premium version with 4GB of RAM and extra storage. That might explain the difference in camera sensors we see here.
The P9 will make its debut at an event in London tomorrow, so we should know all the official details pretty soon, including whether this device is headed to the U.S. and how much it will cost.
