AT&T won’t sell new HTC 10 flagship Android smartphone

HTC announced the HTC 10 on Tuesday morning. It’s the company’s new flagship Android smartphone that will go toe-to-toe with the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 in many markets, including the United States. It’ll be sold by Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile in the U.S. but, oddly enough, won’t be carried by AT&T.

“AT&T won’t be selling HTC 10 directly, so we encourage AT&T customers to purchase the open channel device directly from HTC.com,” HTC said in a statement provided to TechnoBuffalo. It’s a bit of a shame considering HTC’s devices are typically top notch. The One M7 and One M8 were popular among smartphone enthusiasts, though last year’s One M9 has largely been viewed as a dud. Did that device scare AT&T away? We don’t know.

We will reach out to AT&T for comment and will update this story once we hear back. It’s possible HTC and AT&T have some sort of special deal worked out but, for now, U.S. AT&T customers will need to buy the unlocked model.
