The New York Yankees appeared to be in deep trouble in the top of the first inning in the AL Wild Card game when they gave up three runs to the Minnesota Twins and had to pull Luis Severino.

Instead, they responded with three of their own in the top of the first thanks to a three-run homer from Didi Gregorius, a solo home run from Brett Gardner, and an RBI single from Greg Bird.

In the bottom of the fourth, leading 5-4, Aaron Judge joined the party. In the first postseason game of his career, Judge hit a two-run home run over the left field wall to give the Yankees a 7-4 lead.

The homer was shy by his standards, but nonetheless important to give the Yankees some breathing room.
