A new report from a Taiwanese supplier indicates that Apple is planning a 5-inch iPhone to join its product lineup in 2017.
With the year winding down, rumors are already starting to heat up as to what we will see from the iPhone 7s in 2017. While a standard iPhone 7s and a 7s Plus are givens, a new report from Mac Okatara – citing a Taiwanese supply source – indicates that Apple is looking to introduce a third model that will fall between the two sizes and include a 5-inch screen.
An earlier report from Nikkei has also indicated that a 5-inch model would be joining the 4.7 and 5.5-inch models in 2017, so this rumor definitely seems to be gaining traction.
The camera may see a change
The same report also indicates that the 5-inch iPhone 7s may include a different camera module that sees the lenses placed in a vertical configuration as opposed to the current horizontal layout. There is no information as to why this change would be made, or if it would only apply to the 5-inch version, but one has to assume it would have something to do with the internal layout of the parts.
iPhone announcements are traditionally done in September, so we still have nine months to go before we learn anything official, but expect many more rumors to appear in the coming months.
