Apple recently updated its TestFlight developer tool with support for the new software it introduced at WWDC 2016 earlier this week. Developers writing apps for iOS 10, watchOS 3 and tvOS can now take advantage of the latest TestFlight application, too.
TestFlight is convenient for allowing other people to test a beta version of your application on their devices. I use it all the time, for example, to test new versions of apps before they’re released to the public. The latest version supports some of the features that are built into the operating systems, like the 3D Touch Quick Action in iOS 10. With it, we should start to see new iOS 10 beta applications that have features like the new widgets that are supported in the operating system. Apple also said there are stability and performance improvements in the new TestFlight.
You’ll want to turn off Automatic Updates, Apple warns, since there’s currently a bug where the app will update itself to the most recent version in the app store, instead of sticking around as the beta app you’re trying to test. Apple said it’ll fix that soon, though.
