Ever since the announcement of Phase 3, the two-part Avengers: Infinity War event has been generically titledPart 1 and Part 2. However, once the two films hit theaters, their titles will likely be changed, according to co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo.
While doing promotion for Captain America: Civil War, the Russos once again reiterated the two movies will actually be completely different, and not necessarily one film split into two. That means, of course, giving them appropriate titles so audiences aren’t confused with a Part 1 and Part 2 designation.
“The intention is we will change it, we just haven’t come up with the titles yet,” said Joe Russo. “But, yes, we will change it.”
That revelation in and of itself doesn’t give us much indication as to what the films will be called, but at least we know fans won’t get half of a film now and another half later. As it stands, the generic titles remain intact. But come 2018, when Part 1 is scheduled to hit, expect a very different title.
