Batman movie with Ben Affleck currently in development (Update)

You know that solo Batman movie Ben Affleck seems so hesitant to commit to? It’s happening, according to Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara, who didn’t provide many details beyond that. The news comes on the heels of an earlier report that said Affleck was already working on a script.

“We’re working with Ben Affleck on a standalone Batman movie,” Tsujihara said.

If we really want to split hairs, Tsujihara’s comments don’t 100 percent confirm a Batman movie starring the veteran actor. “We’re working with Ben Affleck” could simply mean they’re in discussions, which is something we already knew. But, come on, Batman was by far the best part of Batman v Superman, and there’s plenty of great material for Warner Bros. to pull from if it does move forward with a solo movie.

Warner Bros. recently shuffled its DC lineup in order to accommodate two untitled movies, and one of them could very well be saved for Batman. If something is indeed in the works, we could see the finished product as early as Oct. 5, 2018, just about a year after Justice League Part Onehits theaters.

Will Affleck direct? Is something actually happening? We should know something, hopefully with 100 percent certainty, very soon.

Update: According to Jim Vejvoda of IGN, Affleck will indeed direct the movie.
