For years, Bill Gates has participated in Reddit’s annual holiday gift exchange, and in one year gave a Marvel fan a replica Loki helmet. This year, the former Microsoft CEO turned philanthropist once again participated in the Secret Santa exchange, sending Redditor Aerrix a boatload of cool stuff.
“I love my Xbox and thought you might like one too,” a note from Gates reads. That’s not all Aerrix received.
In addition to some Zelda-themed mittens, Gates also sent Aerrix an NES Classic, which is proving difficult to find. I guess when you’re the richest man on Earth, getting what you want isn’t very hard. (If you’re skeptical Aerrix didn’t receive an NES Classic from Gates, one of his representatives told IGN it’s authentic.)
Aerrix, who is an avid gamer and big Nintendo fan, was predictably jazzed about what Gates sent:
Merry Christmas to all yall out there, and to Mr. Gates, who has the biggest heart and REALLY KNOW HOW TO TREAT A GIRL TO SOME VIDEO GAMES (and video game paraphernalia)! I’m just blown away by his generosity, which went further than all these gifts because he submitted a donation to code.org in my name to give more students the chance to learn computer science, which is AWESOME because it’s something near and dear to my heart as my husband is a programmer and my brother has a degree in computer science!
Thank you SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO much Mr. Gates! I’ll never EVAR forget this Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀
An Xbox and an NES Classic
The cool part is that donations can be made to organizations in their name. So, not only does the Reddit gift exchange spread holiday cheer, but it gives back to the community—something Gates regularly does through his philanthropy work.
