BMW may finally add Apple CarPlay support later this year. A leaked price list shared on German site BimmerPost reveals plans to offer Apple’s infotainment system in two of the company’s cars.
Specifically, CarPlay could be coming to new versions of the BMW X5 M and X6 M. The price list is set to go into effect until August 1. However, support for Apple’s software might arrive a bit later with a subsequent update.
The price list also mentions an option to include a 10.25-inch LCD touchscreen for the new X5 M and X6 M, which BMW already offers in the 7 Series lineup. Finally, the leak promises wireless support for CarPlay, which Apple introduced in iOS 9 but still isn’t widely available.
Apple and BMW haven’t been on the best terms lately. The Cupertino company reportedly approached the German car-maker to manufacture its rumored electric vehicle but apparently got rejected. Thankfully, it looks like one small disagreement won’t stop the two companies from collaborating on other projects like this.
