I’m pretty sure we can all agree that airplane bathroom’s are gross.
You and fellow passengers all stand outside of them, walk in one after another, touch everything, cough all over, use the toilet… it’s gross. Unlike bathrooms in other places, like a restaurant, they often aren’t cleaned mid-flight and can get pretty nasty after a 14-hour long-haul trip. Boeing thinks it might have a solution.

The company recently introduced a prototype airplane bathroom that can clean itself “using ultraviolet (UV) light to kill 99.99 percent of pathogens, thus sanitizing all the lavatory surfaces,” Boeing explained. In a short video posted by Boeing to Facebook, you can see how this work as the UV light activates right after someone leaves the lavatory. “Combined with touchless faucets, soap dispensers and more, the lavatory of the future could make for a more hygienic, less worrisome experience.”
I love it, now if only we could get cleaner water in the sinks.
Gross.
