There is no reason why I should have a Porsche 928. But I hear it. A howl from beyond. It is this immaculate V8 speed machine, a thunderbolt from a future past.
In the world of impossibly-expensive air-cooled Porsches, where the last cheap 911 was sold years ago, I can’t help but think that this beautifully water-cooled 928 listed on Prescott, Arizona Craigslist is a perfect vehicle.
As you can see, it’s one of the more early body style cars, when its lines were the cleanest and the sharpest. The earlier American models only made about 219 horsepower from their 4.5-liter V8s, but that’s more than enough for a car weighing only a couple hundred pounds up from 3,000.

It’s also a manual. The interior looks like ideal everyday driver condition. (Not too rough, not too perfect.) And it has gold BBS meshies.

Will it break down instantly and leave me in project car hell? Almost certainly. But it will be stylish, and that may be enough.
