Dark Souls III’s 80s trailer is fantastic, rocks Evil Dead vibes

I don’t really care if this video isn’t done up completely in the Dark Souls style. Bandai Namco created a Dark Souls III trailer soaked in an 80s flavor, complete with VHS scan lines, ancient audio and that announcer a lot of readers my age grew up listening to.

The Dark Souls III trailer even wraps up with a VHS box that looks like it came from the desk of the artist behind the Evil Dead series’ promotional materials. I want Bandai Namco to sell that tape’s case a poster, phone case or, heck, even a mug.

The inspiration for this official trailer likely comes from the awesome Dark Souls II fan made Rogue Warrior clip. You can see that glorious thing at the base of this post.

Dark Souls III will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms on April 12, 2016.
