The legendary RTS series Dawn of War returns with the unlikely third entry reviving all of the lore and destruction that comes along with it. Dawn of War III looks fantastic, like it’s everything the fans of the series want, and the first gameplay screenshots don’t show it straying too far from the path.
“This is the Dawn of War that fans have been waiting for,” says Executive Producer Stephen MacDonald
Our biggest units ever? Check. Giant orbital lasers? Check. Base-building, epic heroes, huge battles, it’s all in there. Get ready for the biggest Dawn of War yet. For the Emperor!
Relic Entertainment is returning to development duties for this latest game explaining why the screenshots look exactly like what a Dawn of War game should. When you are reviving a fan-favorite franchise, it’s often best to leave development in the hands of those who made it a fan-favorite.
Not too retro, but hardly over the top and devoid of the original games’ character. Nothing is being sacrificed or compromised in this age of sacrifices and compromises, and something tells me the success of XCOM: Enemy Unknown gave this long-overdue gem the greenlight. Are publishers willing to take risks on strategy games again? I sure hope so!
This will be the first game Relic Entertainment develops for SEGA since it was bought from THQ in 2013. Dawn of War III will be released for the PC in 2017.
