As if you hadn’t already spent enough time in the wasteland, Bethesda wants to give you one more reason to head back – and to choose the HTC Vive as your VR headset.
Among a whole list of announcements, add-ons, upgrades, and more, Bethesda marketing vice president Pete Hines announced that the team behind Fallout 4 is working on a version of Fallout 4 designed to be used with the HTC Vive headset.
“If you thought that survival mode was an intense way to experience Fallout, you ain’t seen nothing yet,” he said.
While each of the different VR headsets out there has its share of advantages, they’ve struggled to reveal a killer app that can truly drive sales. Fallout 4 could be just that for the Vive. It’s a well-liked, popular game, and fans will have an idea of what they’re getting into as they slip the headset on. It’s a known in a sea of unknowns.
We didn’t get a chance to check Fallout 4’s VR edition at Bethesda’s show last night, but we’re looking forward to seeing if this could push the HTC Vive ahead of the better known competition.
