As promised, Sushee has launched its Square Enix-backed Kickstarer campaign to revive the Fear Effect franchise. Those looking for a return to third-person action and stealth gameplay will not find find the game they seek, though. Instead, Sushee’s vision for the franchise is an overhead tactical game animated in the same style of the PSOne Classics.
The atmosphere, characters and gameplay – which mixes tactics, puzzles and stealth – are true to the original Fear Effect. However, while there are familiar aspects of the game to previous incarnations of the franchise, you’ll find yourself immersed in a completely unique and new world with Fear Effect Sedna – one that will appeal to fans both old and new.
Sushee says that the mercenary team from the original games are back in this new adventure, and the story takes place four years after the events of the first Fear Effect. Their mission starts with a shady deal in Hong Kong, and it whisks them off across the globe, eventually reaching Inuit country in Greenland.
