Stop freaking out: those Rogue One reshoots everyone has been talking about aren’t as serious as the original New York Post report made it out to be. Yes, reshoots are happening this summer. No, the movie isn’t in crisis. Apparently Disney is gearing up to show off more new footage at the Star Wars Celebration in July.
In addition to that, Marvel is hard at work on Guardians 2, and we may already know the villain of the film. Take these reports with a grain of salt, but it sounds very plausible. Check out more reports down below.
Rogue One reshoot details
According to EW, reshoots are happening for Rogue One—just as they do for virtually all movies. The movie isn’t in crisis, and 40 percent doesn’t need to be reshot or rewritten. Apparently most of the stuff being added will flesh out characters, making them stronger and more relatable. And, no, Christopher McQuarrie isn’t involved… but Tony Gilroy reportedly is. [EW]
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
A new report from JoBlo claims the main villain in Guardians 2 will be Ayesha, who was created by The Enclave. You know who else was created by The Enclave? Adam Warlock, who is rumored to be Star-Lord’s dad in the MCU. [JoBlo]
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is Doc Savage
Dwayne Johnson, who is attached to an insane amount of projects over the next few years, confirmed that he’ll be playing Doc Savage, which is being directed by Shane Black (The Nice Guys). Johnson confirmed the news on his Facebook on Memorial Day, saying he was attracted to the character because he’s a “F*CKING HILARIOUS WEIRDO!” [Facebook]
Cars 3 reveals new characters
Director Brian Fee has revealed new details about Cars 3, including the new characters we’ll meet when Lightning McQueen hits the racing circuit. Although McQueen isn’t considered too old to race, we’ll apparently find the character at a crossroads where he’s starting to get outshone by younger competition.
Jackson Storm is the face of these rookies who have come onto the scene. And McQueen is in a position where his entire racing generation is being pushed out. But it’s too early to be shown the door right now.
There’s going to be another new character named Cruz Ramirez who helps McQueen overcome his technical deficiencies. No voice actors have been picked to voice these new characters yet. [USAToday]
