Ford GTs will be some of the coolest cars to watch that the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend, if only because they have roadgoing counterparts. If you’re into them, Ford Performance is setting up a live show just for its four GT race cars which you can watch here.
YouTube seems to indicate that coverage will kick off with the race: Saturday, June 16 at 3:00 p.m. local time (CEST). If you’re looking at this article before then, you’ll see that the video is just a title card screen but if you bookmark it and come back during the race I think you’ll be treated to some sweet Ford GT action.
Ford Performance has promised coverage for “the full 24 Hours of Le Mans live from the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France.” The feed is supposed to let you watch all four of the team’s vehicles and even select your view while listening to race commentary and seeing timing.
That’s pretty freaking sweet. Christmas come early, in fact, if you’re a Ford GT fan. I haven’t been able to find other teams giving fans this much action specifically about their own cars, and if I do I’ll try and share it. But this seems like a pretty smart marketing move on Ford’s part. What is the race car there to do if not raise the brand’s profile and eventually sell more cars, after all right?
Just to be clear, this is not an official race broadcast. But even if you’re not obsessed with the Ford GT this might turn out to be solid race coverage. Meanwhile, we’ll have some writers watching the wires and a photographer on the ground to keep you posted on interesting action from the 2018 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
