Announced for an October 2nd release, Microsoft dropped this Forza Horizon 4 official trailer during the E3 conference today. And like the other entries in this beloved it series, it’s gonna be an awesome car vacation.
Where previous titles have been based in the U.S., southern Europe, and Australian outback-style open world locales, the fourth installment is promised to reflect a uniquely United Kingdom look. The cities, countryside, hills and dales of Great Britain are just begging to be explored by an AWD engine-swapped 1000 horsepower rally-tire-equipped Volkswagen Beetle of your making.
As the Forza franchise continues to refine the knife-edge dynamics of their Motorsport series, the Horizon games are intended to provide as much laid back fun as you can handle. How you play the game is up to you, as you can simply screw around crashing into things, compete in over-the-road races, search for hidden easter eggs, try to find the prettiest backdrops, or build the wackiest modified cars you can dream of. Drift, drive, jump, photograph, or explore, the whole wide world is your oyster.
Given the fact that the Horizon 4 trailer is set to a slow cover of The Who’s “I Can See for Miles,” I’m inclined to believe that the world is much larger than previous games. The larger the open world, the more crazy stuff there is to explore. Personally, I’d love to see an Isle of Man expansion, or at the very least a bit that looks like Wales.
Forza Horizon 4 has been optimized for the Xbox One X’s 4k display capabilities, meaning this should be one hell of a good looking video game. You can pre-order your copy, or receive access to it on October 2 through your Microsoft Xbox Game Pass subscription at no additional cost.
