When we previewed Forza Motorsport 6 at E3 last summer, executive producer Ryan Cooper told us that we could expect to see Porsche cars to head to Forza 6 sometime in 2016. It looks like the time is coming pretty soon, as details of the expansion have leaked via Amazon.
The expansion, priced at $19.99, will feature a guided Porsche campaign chapter that will “explore the past, present and future of Porsche” across 48 new events. 20 Porsche cars will populate the expansion that range from early models like the 1957 356A Speedster to the 2015 #19 Porsche Team 919 Hybrid. Nine of the cars will be entirely new to Xbox One while some, presumably, will be those that have appeared previously in Forza Horizon 2‘s Porsche expansion.
Why does one of the most famous car licenses always appear as an expansion in these games? Electronic Arts owns and continues to make use of the Porsche license, featuring it heavily in games like Need for Speed, forcing Turn 10 Studios and Microsoft to pay extra and, as a result, charge extra for the brand.
The release of the expansion will also see the release of the Virginia International Raceway, which will feature seven different track configurations, each with day, night, and wet options. Forza tracks have traditionally been free this generation, so it seems likely this will join them, though that has yet to be confirmed.
The leak seems legitimate, and sports a March 1 release date.
In the meantime, you can check out the recently released AlpineStars Car Pack, which includes the legendary Pontiac Aztek, legendary for being one of the ugliest cars ever made and for appearing in the television series Breaking Bad.
