Fox’s X-Men TV show has a familiar director

It’s been a long time since we last heard about Fox’s X-Men show, but we finally have a few more details. According to Deadline, Bryan Singer, who is a familiar figure in the X-Men universe, will helm the pilot episode of the untitled show, which is being written by Burn Notice creator Matt Nix.

Singer was already tapped to executive produce, and considering his previous experience directing the most recent X-Men trilogy (plus others), he’s the most obvious choice to kickstart the show.

When Marvel unveiled the project last year, the studio talked up the “exciting new series” and said there was a lot of mythology to draw from. While details for the project are relatively scarce, we do know it’ll focus on parents who discover their children possess mutant powers.

We still don’t know when it’ll come out

While the pieces are falling into place behind the scenes, Fox still hasn’t said when the pilot will come out. The project has moved pretty slowly since it was announced last summer, so I don’t expect it to air anytime soon.

Complicating matters is Singer’s busy schedule. The director’s next project will be a remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, reportedly followed by Bohemian Rhapsody, a biopic about rock band Queen. Once we have more information about this Marvel project we’ll be sure to let you know.
