Samsung’s Gear Fit 2 has been leaking a lot lately, but a new report may set the record straight once and for all. SamMobile claims to have all the hardware details for the upcoming fitness tracker.
The device apparently packs a 1.55-inch Super AMOLED display with a 216 x 432-pixel resolution. Samsung has reportedlyt included an in-house dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of storage, a 200mAh battery, Tizen software and an IP68 water-resistant rating. The Gear Fit 2 may come equipped with GPS, a heart rate monitor, an accelerometer, a gyroscope and a barometer.
Those specs actually aren’t much of a jump from the original Gear Fit, which launched in 2014 with a 128 x 432-pixel display, a 210mAh battery and similar sensors. However, the addition of GPS and a curvier AMOLED panel should make this a worthy upgrade.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Gear Fit 2 pretty soon, but we still don’t know the exact release date or how much it will cost. We just hope the company can keep it competitively priced with similar devices like Xiaomi’s Mi Band 2, which is expected to retail for just $50, but it probably won’t.
