The 2018 Subaru WRX Type RA is a fierce performance car with a big personality and a bad attitude. It’s also a collector’s item, since Subaru’s currently claiming only 500 will be built. Here are the details that make the special edition stand out.
The Type RA is something of a “commemorative car” to the Nürburgring Ring Record Attempt (hence RA) race car that set a blistering 6:57.5 lap time at the famous track.
The $50,000 sport sedan gets a modest power increase, short-throw shifter, some more acceleration-biased gearing and unique stiff suspension that make it hilariously fun to drive.
It also has a big wing, gold 19-inch BBS wheels, air vents a carbon fiber roof, and a few little extra badges.
