HTC 10’s Nougat update is halted in Europe

HTC has confirmed it has halted its Android 7.0 Nougat update for HTC 10 handsets in mainland Europe, just hours after it started rolling out. The company blames the delay on a “technical issue” and promises it is working to correct it.

Nougat has been available to HTC 10 owners in the U.S. for more than a month now, but those in other markets have had to wait patiently for it. The wait came to an end for users in mainland Europe earlier this week — but only briefly.

Just hours after announcing Nougat’s rollout in the U.K., Russia, the Middle East, and Turkey, HTC EMEA Product and Service Director Graham Wheeler confirmed the update had been paused for users in mainland Europe.

For HTC 10 users in mainland Europe, we’ve unfortunately had to pause the rollout as we look into a technical issue and work to correct it.

“Please stay tuned as I will post again when it starts back up,” Wheeler continued in another tweet. “Thanks for your patience — I expect it to begin again up in Feb.”

That means the update is likely to be at least another five days away, but probably even longer than that. It’s unclear whether those who managed to get it before it was pulled are now experiencing issues with their HTC 10; Wheeler doesn’t disclose what the “technical issue” is.

If you’re in mainland Europe with an HTC 10 and you managed to grab Nougat before it was pulled, let us know how you’re getting on with it down in the comments.
