Word has it Buick is about to take an earnest pass at rebuilding its brand with an all-new Regal sedan set to bow in the near future. Everyone seems to think it will be a version of the newly revealed Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport, and I can’t think of a better way to make Buick awesome again.

The sedan, which will be sold by GM as the Opel and Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport in Europe and Holden Commodore in Australia, is a completely new car set to feature an eight-speed automatic, advanced AWD system with clutch-powered torque vectoring (conceptually similar to what we tried in the Porsche Macan) and one hell of a beautiful body.
The Insignia/Commodore looks like confluence of the Audi A7 and Volvo S90 with a bit of Mazda6 in the equation. Consider me titillated.

The Vauxhall press release says its version of the car will bow in earnest at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March, where the company will show off more details but it sounds particularly proud of the car’s headlights, heads-up display and seats.
Holden’s Commodore press release got into a little more detail about its version of the vehicle, which will get a nine-speed automatic, AWD again and both a small diesel and V6 gas engine options along with a high-performance adaptive suspension system.
I’m quite taken with the design in these images, and I think Buick would have a good shot at riding this sexy shape back to relevance in the U.S. luxury car market. I’m not even that old yet.
