I Am So Stoked For The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

I think the 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish is one of the most beautiful cars on the market, but even great things will eventually need replacing. Today, Aston Martin announced that a new flagship is coming, one that will be called the DBS Superleggera.

The boutique British automaker was pretty mum about all other details, so we don’t have anything in the way of performance (though Autocar seems to believe that it will have 700 horsepower). I just hope that the V12 is sticking around, which it probably will. This is the Superleggera, after all, not the Supernoioso.

Anyway, the last Aston Martin to wear the DBS moniker was the DB9-based 2007 Aston Martin DBS. And the last Aston Martin to be called a Superleggera was a DB4 in 1959. Milanese coachbuilder Touring designed a light-weight aluminum body for Aston Martin and deemed it the “Superleggera” model, according to our friends at Road & Track. So at least there’s precedent, before all you Lamborghini fans come out of the woodwork screaming that Aston stole it from the hardworking, salt-of-the-earth Bull People of Sant’Agata Bolognese.

This is all part of Aston Martin’s Second Century Plan, announced in 2015, from which we could expect a bunch of new models in the coming years.

Unconfirmed reports that we just made up point to the much-vaunted Aston Martin 2020 concept being punted to 3020, instead. It’s fine, the Superleggera is probably better, anyway.
