One of my favorite things in drifting is when a car is set up to sort of drive itself. Watch this video to see what I mean.
This is James Deane, reigning Formula Drift champion who conquered America after cleaning house in the rest of Europe. This is just a video of one of his test sessions, on a wet karting track in his native Ireland.
And in it you see the above entry, in which Deane sends the car just about backwards into a turn miles away, perfectly countersteering with, wait, no hands on the wheel? Yep. No hands on the wheel at all.
Indeed, the car is just steering itself, thanks to how the suspension is set up and, of course, Deane having a very good sense of how his straight-six swapped Nissan S-Chassis handles. His car is very well set up and he’s very good at driving, is what I’m trying to say.

That said, I still don’t understand how he does it. Like, I understand it, but again, not really.
